I believe that we are all gifted in some way, and one of my specific talents is to help people with their dental health. Doing dentistry and working with so many different and unique people gives my life a certain substance and meaning. I love taking care of families and watching the kids grow up, and I like hearing about what everyone is up to. I feel like each patient becomes my friend and I am privileged that they trust me to take care of their dental health.
I attended the University of California Santa Barbara for my undergraduate education, and graduated in 1984. I continued on to the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1987.
Continuing education is the best way to keep abreast of all the latest improvements and scientific findings. The most recent courses I’ve taken have focused on Invisalign®, but I continue to take a myriad of classes from implant technology, crowns and bridges, and veneering to pediatric dentistry.
I have been a part of dental school screenings for Hollister and McKinley Elementary schools for many years now. I have also done screenings for a few preschools downtown. I was part of the “Adopt a School” program for McKinley school, where I provided dental care for the students who needed more immediate attention. I have been involved with the Santa Barbara County Surf Club for many years as well.
I am married and live with my husband and my dog. I am lucky that my parents and my sister live close by. I have stepkids and grandkids who live in San Francisco and Napa Valley, so we have some nice places to visit although we wish they were much closer!
My favorite leisure activity is walking my dog around the neighborhood. I like to string beads and read mystery novels, and I also love to surf whenever I get the chance. Lately I’ve been into pilates, although I occasionally jog and do yoga, too.
